Each of us here at Our Savior's Lutheran Church has a responsibility to give of our talents in order that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would be glorified and so that His kingdom would be increased.

Acolytes

Worship

Ministry Head: Rachel Gehr
Mission: To assist the pastors during the worship services by lighting and extinguishing the candles at the altar and by helping the communion servers during the celebration of the Eucharist. All confirmands (7th and 8th graders) serve as acolytes.
 

Adult Bible Class

Education

Ministry Head: Jeff Schoonmaker
Mission:
  • To learn to value and rely on God's infallible word as the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice
  • To increase our ability to "rightly divide the word of truth" by learning to employ proper Bible-study techniques (II Tim. 2:15)
  • To deepen our understanding of Scriptural truths "till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Eph. 4:13)
  • To learn to apply God's word in practical ways that result in real changes in how we live, especially in how we relate to God and to each other
   

Agape Ministry

Outreach

Ministry Head: (vacant)
Mission: To provide financial help to members of the congregation. Requests need to submitted in writing and given to the church office or the Ministry Head.
 

Altar Guild

Worship

Ministry Head: Sue Wallace
Mission: To enhance worship by preparing the Lord's Table for all services. This preparation is to be carried out reverently, lovingly, carefully, and willingly. This mission includes the cleaning and changing of the altar linens and paraments, preparing the elements for the Lord's Supper, and preparing the altar flowers for delivery to shut-ins after services.
   

Assisted Living Bible Study

Outreach

Ministry Heads: Joan Manion, Elsa Thompson
Mission: The Assisted Living Ministry provides weekly Bible studies for residents at three area facilities: Colonie Manor, Atria-Guilderland and Atria-Shaker. Its purpose is to gather together in the name of Jesus for worship, study, prayer and fellowship. Residents are encouraged to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus, receiving Him as Savior and Lord.

Christian Literature Ministry

Outreach

Ministry Head: Emily Henk
Mission: To support the Lord's work through the written word. Tracts and daily devotional booklets are available without charge for personal use or to give someone to meet a particular need. Opportunities to serve the Lord through other ministries are described in a number of brochures. Materials are displayed in the church breezeway and in the lobby of the Community Life Center.
 

Coffee Fellowship

Fellowship

Ministry Head: Lori Dollard
Mission: Many are blessed as this time allows for weekly connecting and conversing that we, as members of the Body of Christ, can all look forward to. During this time, we will seek to provide a welcoming atmosphere to members and visitors as we serve up smiles, coffee, tea and a bite-to-eat for our Sunday morning worshippers.
   

Communion To Shut-Ins

Spiritual Care and Prayer

Ministry Head: Bill and Marguerite Zimmermann
Mission: To encourage our shut-ins at home, in nursing homes or in hospitals to remember that they are not alone; that Jesus loves them and is always with them. To visit as caring friends and to provide communion for them.

Mission: To effectively and efficiently give comfort through the sacrament of Holy Communion, and through the ministry of prayer to the needs of the hurting world.

  • 10:00am in the Sanctuary with a blended setting
    from 11-12 there will be an extended time of worship
